Following Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday, forward Bukayo Saka has called on Premier League referees to provide him with more protection.
Saka scored the game’s sole goal in the 30th minute.
The 20-year-old, however, was plainly limping when he was replaced with 20 minutes remaining.
He’s now disclosed what he said to referee Andrew Madley during the game.
“I wasn’t complaining, but I did want to make him aware that this is my game.” I’m going to charge at players; when the opposition tries to kick me, I need a little more protection.
“My ankle is a little bloody, but I’ll be doing the same things in the next game,” Saka added.
