Sergio Aguero, a former Manchester City striker, has lambasted the French media for ‘killing’ PSG forward Lionel Messi.
Aguero claimed this while defending Messi following the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s dismal performance in PSG’s 1-0 Champions League round of 16 first-leg victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday.
L’Equipe, a French publication, gave Messi a three-out-of-ten rating for his ‘worrying’ weak performance following his spectacular penalty miss against Real Madrid during the match.
When given a spot-kick against Real Madrid, the former Barcelona captain failed to convert from 12 yards, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saving his shot.
However, Kylian Mbappe’s late goal ensured PSG’s victory over Real Madrid in Paris.
“This Leo punishment tale is a load of s**t. He was a good player who was able to break lines. Aguero told RMC Sport, “He was good and really energetic.”
