With both of the leads out with Covid-19, producers were forced to cancel Thursday’s performance of Neil Simon’s classic comedy Plaza Suite, which they had been starring in together on Broadway.
“Sarah Jessica Parker tested positive with COVID today, with a second test confirming the diagnosis,” says a social media announcement. “With Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker both testing positive for COVID, tonight’s Plaza Suite performance has been canceled.” The creators apologise for any inconvenience this may have given the audience.”
“Everyone wishes Matthew and Sarah Jessica a swift recovery,” the producers ended, adding that they will disclose news regarding future performances as soon as possible.
After the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star caught Covid-19 on Tuesday, the Sex and the City actress played with her husband’s understudy Michael McGrath.
Their positive results arrive just over a week after Plaza Suite debuted at the Hudson Theatre on March 28. The play was supposed to premiere in March 2020, but the epidemic forced it to be postponed several times.
Broderick and Parker have both remained silent in the aftermath of the announcement.
