Willie Spence Of American Idol Has Died At 23. American Idol contestant Willie Spence, who was the runner up for season 19 of the singing competition show, has tragically passed away at the young age of 23. Reports suggest that he may have succumbed to injuries from a car accident.
News of the young singer’s passing began spreading on social media. One person who wrote a tribute was Katharine McPhee, who actually sang a duet with Willie during his season.
“I received very tragic news tonight,” Katharine posted on her Instagram Story. “Sweet @williespenceofficial passed away in a car accident. Only 23 years old. Life is so unfair and nothing is ever promised. God rest your soul Willie. It was a pleasure to sing with you and to know you.”
She also reposted Willie‘s last social media post, which he shared before his death on Tuesday (October 11). The video is of him singing. You can watch that video, embedded below.
