Why Jennifer Lopez Declined To Perform On A British Television Program. Jennifer Lopez apparently made some ‘diva demands’ when she appeared on the British television show Top of the Pops in the late ’90s.
Fellow pop star Dannii Minogue claimed on her podcast that J.Lo ‘refused to perform’ unless her dressing room was completely redecorated.
The Aussie singer, 50, alleged the Jenny from the Block star, 52, demanded that ‘everything had to be white’ or she wouldn’t go on stage.
‘And while you hear those diva stories, there is one I can actually vouch for,’ she said on The 90s with Dannii Minogue.
‘I was at Top of the Pops and was told Jennifer Lopez was on her way, but she refused to perform unless her backstage room was redecorated.’
‘I was told everything had to be white, including the sofa. I asked to go in and see the room as she wasn’t there in that moment… I was lapping up every detail,’ Dannii added with a laugh.

‘All I could think was, “Girlfriend is covered head to toe in body makeup. How do you sit on a white couch?”‘

Jennifer, known for her hits Love Don’t Cost a Thing and On the Floor, recently celebrated the release of her new Netflix documentary Halftime.
In Halftime, the singer-turned-actress reflects on her career and reveals she almost quit when scrutiny over her curvaceous figure became too much.
‘There were many times where I was just like, “I think I’m just going to quit,”‘ she says.
‘I had to really figure out who I was. And believe in that and not believe in anything else.’
Her curvy body type was far from the norm when J.Lo burst onto the scene in 1997.
‘When I started working, the beauty ideal was very thin, blonde, tall, not a lot of curves,’ she says in Halftime.
‘I grew up around women with curves so it was nothing I was ever ashamed of. It was hard, when you think people think you’re a joke like a punchline.’
‘But it wound up affecting things in a way that I never intended,’ she says, adding that her then-fiancé Ben Affleck was surprised at the criticism.
