ENTERTAINMENT: Madonna was followed by Ukraine’s president after she posted an odd video montage of the country’s situation.

Some have praised Madonna’s one-of-a-kind homage for raising awareness of Ukraine’s destruction, with President Zelenskyy even following her on Instagram.

After she posted a bizarre video montage of the Ukraine scenario synchronized to one of her songs, President Vlodymyr Zelenskyy began following Madonna.

The singer, 63, reaffirmed her support for Ukraine as Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-fledged invasion on Thursday.

She condemned Putin’s actions and encouraged people to donate to humanitarian groups, as well as publishing a remix of her 2006 song Sorry, which was set to footage from the bloodshed.

The movie includes footage of bombs landing on Ukraine and people drenched in blood, as well as clips of President Putin and Adolf Hitler, with Hitler’s visage overlaid on Putin at moments.

The montage also features text of the lyrics from Sorry, with ‘Lies’ and ‘I can’t take it’ appearing over Putin’s face and a map of the airstrikes on Ukraine as Madonna dances.

However others criticised her for what they called a ‘tone-deaf’ or ‘narcissistic’ approach, some accusing her of using the crisis to promote herself and her music.

One person, writing to her on Instagram, said: ‘I take situation in the Ukraine seriously and Madonna posts a music video including images of her gyrating in a leotard…

‘It’s not the time or place for that. I feel she could have shown her support in a much more sensitive manner.’

As well as the video, Madonna shared a written tribute to Ukraine and its people, writing: ‘Russia’s Pointless and Greed Driven Invasion Of the Ukraine MUST be stopped!!

‘Please Send in Humanitarian Aid to help millions of citizens of the Ukraine who’s lives are being affected by this CRISIS at this very moment (sic).’

She added: ‘Putin has Violated Every Human Rights Accord in Existence. Putin has no right to try to erase the existence of the Ukraine.

‘We support you President Zelensky!! We are praying for you and your country! . God Bless You All (sic).’

The Papa Don’t Preach singer told followers there ‘are things we can do’ to help the situation, and urged people to donate to a number of charities via a link in her bio.
