Chidera Ejuke, a member of the Super Eagles, has addressed why Nigeria failed to advance past the Round of 16 rounds of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria qualified for the round of 16 of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon after winning all of their group stage matches against Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles, on the other hand, were knocked out of the AFCON last-16 after losing 1-0 to Tunisia under temporary coach Augustine Eguavoen.

After Alex Iwobi’s red card, Ejuke, who did not make it off the bench against Tunisia, stated the Super Eagles did not make use of their chances against the Carthage Eagles.

“Everyone was interested in how we played there, how we lost in the 1/8 finals against Tunisia,” Ejuke told CSKA’s official website.

“Of course, we were disappointed because we have talented players and performed well in the group stage.” We had hoped for more, but now is our time.”

“Of course, you can judge from the outside,” he continued, “but those who were on the field have a weightier judgment.”

“The Tunisians put forth a little more effort than we did to win.” After the red card, the squad continued to create opportunities but failed to take advantage of them. “The tide had swung against us.”
