Manchester United Will Look To Reignite Their Interest In Victor Osimhen In The January Transfer Window. The Red Devils have allegedly been long-term admirers of the 23-year-old, who was strongly linked with a potential switch to Old Trafford over the summer.
Osimhen enjoyed an impressive spell in front of goal for Napoli last season, scoring 18 times and providing six assists in 32 appearances for the Italian outfit across all competitions.
A report last month claimed that United were exploring the possibility of a swap deal with Napoli involving Osimhen and Cristiano Ronaldo, but this proposal failed to bear fruit.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United could revive their interest in the Nigeria international in the winter window, with Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford still uncertain.
Osimhen, who still has three years remaining on his contract in Naples, insisted last month that he is not looking to leave the Serie A club any time soon.
“I’m in Napoli. And I have great respect for my club,” the striker told Corriere dello Sport. “They are just rumours of the market. I’m fine here and I’ve never had such close relationships with everyone as at this moment.
“I spoke to the president, he is the one who decides, and he reassured me by explaining the club’s plans. I am happy with what he told me and the purchases are of quality: words were followed by deeds. I am very happy to play with Napoli and we will see in the future.”
Manchester United Will Look To Reignite Their Interest In Victor Osimhen In The January Transfer Window. Osimhen became the most expensive African footballer in history when he joined Napoli from Lille in a deal worth around £70m in July 2020.
It is thought that Napoli now value the Nigerian at around £100m, a figure which could discourage potential suitors such as United, who will allegedly hand Erik ten Hag £70m to spend on reinforcements in January.
Osimhen is not the only striker to have been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with one report claiming that the Red Devils are weighing up a winter-window swoop for Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.
The 21-year-old, who has recorded eight goals and five assists in 12 games for the Portuguese giants so far this season, is believed to be valued at around £25m by United, who could face competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Southampton for his signature.
Ten Hag is also thought to be still keen on signing Ajax forward Brian Brobbey, who revealed last month that the Dutch boss made contact with him over a proposed reunion at Old Trafford.
