On Tuesday, the 24th of May, The Headies released its official nomination list which sent the internet into a frenzy.
5 Reasons Why Portable Bagged Multiple Headies Nominations Ahead Of Kizz Daniel. Many excited fans rushed to check the nominee’s list to see how many awards their favorite artists bagged at the nomination ceremony.
Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, Portable, Ayra Starr, Tems, Brymo and Adekunle Gold bagged multiple nominations, while artists like Victony and Cheque were snubbed.
Kizz Daniel who currently has the most shazamed song in the World, ‘BUGA‘ got just one nomination, while fast-raising Street Pop artist, Portable bagged two nominations.
This caused fans to rush to Twitter to call out the organizers of the show for insulting Kizz Daniel with the ‘Best Afrobeats Album’ nomination they gave him.
Some users were generous enough to provide reasons why Kizz Daniel was underrated by Headies.
According to Culture, the music industry has a personal agenda against him. He revealed that Kizz Daniel has being dropping bangers for years and it’s sad to see he not get the recognition he deserves.

Another user identified as Life claims Kizz Daniel bagged just one nomination because he is underrated in the music industry. He recalled how ‘Lie’ was trending on social media for months, but Headies chose Wizkid’s 2020 song, Essence.

Daniel Regha claims Kizz Daniel bagged one nomination because the Headies organizers are biased. According to him, Kizz Daniel is a better singer and performer than Wizkid and Davido who received 9 and 8 nominations respectively. He added that The Headies not recognizing Kizz Daniel, but giving Portable two nods is insulting.
