Nigerians may travel safely by rail, according to the Federal Government.
Minister of Information Lai Mohammed claimed the present administration had done a good job of maintaining rail safety across the country.
At a press conference on Monday, Mohammed claimed the Federal Government has done a wonderful job in providing infrastructure.
The minister also mentioned a number of rail projects that the present administration had completed across the country.
“We are happy that in our time, Nigerians can once again travel by rail, this time in great comfort and safety,” Mohammed says.
“Our rail revolution is exemplified by the Lagos-Ibadan, Abuja-Kaduna, Warri-Itakpe-Ajaokuta, and Abuja Metrolines. And this is only the beginning. We have the Bonny Deep Sea and Railway Industrial Park, as well as the rehabilitation of the Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri Eastern Narrow Gauge Railway, which runs through Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Benue, Enugu, Ebonyi, Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa, and Borno states.
“We have the Kano-Maradi standard gauge line, which runs through some of the country’s economic hotspots, including Kazaure, Daura, Katsina, and up to the Niger Republic’s border town of Jibiya and the city of Maradi.”
Meanwhile, robbers have attacked a number of train lines throughout the country.
Gunmen assaulted a Kaduna-Abuja train in October 2021.
On Monday, gunmen suspected of being bandits attacked the rail track of an Abuja-Kaduna train once more.
Several people were hurt as a result of the incident.
