When Nigeria and Ghana last met in a World Cup qualifier at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Oliseh was the captain of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria won 3-0 thanks to a brace from Tijani Babangida and a goal from Victor Agali.

After defeating the Black Stars, the Super Eagles became the fifth African team to qualify for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals in Japan and Korea.

However, Oliseh has now disclosed that previous to the match, Obasanjo warned him that captaining this wonderful country [Nigeria] is not simple, and that it is similar to running it.

Obasanjo allegedly urged him that he had to win the match.

On Wednesday, Oliseh revealed this in a tweet on his Twitter account.

“I’ll never forget what President Obasanjo said to me as I led Nigeria out for this game… Oliseh, you can see that captaining this great country is not simple, just like ruling it. You must win this match.” “Great Memories & Naija Forever,” Olise tweeted alongside a highlight of Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Ghana.

This comes before of Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff match against Ghana, according to 360 MEDIA.

On Friday, Nigeria will face Ghana in Kumasi.

Austin Eguavoen’s side will then face Ghana in the second match on Tuesday in Abuja.
