According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is willing to take a pay cut to leave Stamford Bridge and return to Inter Milan in the summer.
Lukaku has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea since joining from Inter Milan for a club-record £97.7 million last summer.
Lukaku blasted Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s method last December and expressed his desire to return to Inter Milan.
However, it appears that the former Manchester United player is now willing to take a wage reduction in order to expedite that pledge.
The 28-year-old has expressed his desire to return to the Serie A champions and has informed them that he is willing to cut his salary in order to do so.
This is a possibility because of the current scenario at Chelsea.
Chelsea must first be sold, and then a loan agreement must be reached, as Inter is unable to purchase Lukaku.
Meanwhile, there are issues with a possible transfer for the Belgian international.
In their current financial predicament, Inter will be unable to purchase Lukaku. The suggested operation would be a loan agreement with the goal of a permanent relocation.
In addition, the UK government imposed sanctions on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich on Thursday, halting the club’s transfer activity.
Lukaku’s weekly wage of £325,000 will have to be reduced if he is to return to Inter.
