Reid, who played the second Vivian Banks on the original NBC sitcom, and Watson-Johnson, who played Will Smith’s character’s mother, will both star in the new series Bel-Air.
In the upcoming episode, Reid will portray Helen and Watson-Johnson will play Janice, two Art Council Board of Trustee members, according to Variety editors.
Will’s journey from West Philadelphia to the mansions of Bel-Air is reimagined in this series, which takes a fresh look at the beloved ’90s sitcom. Jabari Banks portrays Will.
Smith, together with director/co-writer Morgan Cooper and showrunners T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson, executive produce the show.
Helen and Janice will appear in the ninth episode of Bel-Debut, which will air on March 24.
Every Thursday, a new episode is released.
