The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has recommended anyone who want to acquire land in Lagos State to do their homework beforehand.

Margaret Adejobi, the Federal Controller of Housing in Lagos, made the request in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Sunday.

The official asked the media to launch an anti-grabber campaign, claiming that grabbers have auctioned off gazetted FGN lands throughout the state.

Before purchasing land, residents should always verify with federal and state government entities, according to Adejobi.

Grabbers, she claims, ignore compensations granted to their fathers, trespass on gazetted government lands, and sell them to several buyers falsely.

“I get court summons and petitions every day.” Even well-educated people are victims of land grabbers. Anyone interested in purchasing land should conduct research.

“They can check with the Surveyor General’s Office in Alausa or our office here in Tafawa Balewa Square,” the controller explained.

A Presidential Implementation Committee, according to Adejobi, has sold practically all FGN buildings in Lagos.
