Dimitar Berbatov, a former Manchester United striker, has stated that if the speculations of a schism between Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire are true, the club must act immediately to “f**king straighten it out.”
According to multiple reports, Ronaldo and Maguire are feuding over who should captain the team.
Maguire, the current captain, is said to feel threatened by Ronaldo’s presence in the dressing room.
The rumours have been dismissed by both Maguire and United interim manager Ralf Rangnick, but Berbatov has stated that if there are any concerns, the two players should deal with them face to face.
“At any club, there is always rumour and speculation flying around, and who knows if there is anything in the rumor about a captaincy battle between Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo,” Berbatov told Betfair. That is not the case, according to Harry. I’m hoping he’s correct.
“However, if there is something to it, I hope they can talk it out face to face.”
“What is certain is that this is not the type of thing United requires at this time.” United is battling for a top-four finish, which they must attain.
“This isn’t the time to be talking about it in the middle of the season.”
