Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor of Niger State and Chairman of the North Central States Governors’ Forum (NCSGF), has asked for a patriotic commitment to the continuation of initiatives undertaken by previous governments in the state.
Bello mentioned this in a message delivered by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel Berje, to commemorate the 46th anniversary of the establishment of the state.
He stated that it was past time to put an end to arbitrary, politically motivated project completion and abandonment and instead follow a blueprint that would ensure the state’s long-term growth and development.
“Enough of each government coming to do its own thing and abandoning the other’s.” There must be a patriotic commitment to governance continuity, especially when it comes to service delivery to our people.”
“It is necessary to not only build on the legacy of those founding fathers, but also to establish a legal framework that would unify all Blueprints and or Development Action Plans from prior administrations in order to establish a compelling path to the state’s growth and development.”
He urged for peaceful coexistence among the state’s many peoples, as well as increased support for the APC-led administration’s efforts to build on the achievements of the state’s founding fathers.
The governor also stated that the state administration is developing new techniques and expanding community participation in combating all forms of armed banditry and criminality, while acknowledging the role of traditional rulers in the latest strategy, in close conjunction with the military.
“I congratulate all Nigerlites once more and urge them to remain steadfast and look forward to a brighter future in the coming years.” Despite the apparent, seemingly enormous hurdles ahead, there is every reason to be positive,” Bello remarked.
