Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United star, has prophesied Donny van de Beek’s fate at Everton under Frank Lampard.
On transfer deadline day, Van de Beek ultimately departed Man United to join Everton on loan.
Ferdinand discussed Van de Beek’s loan move to Everton on his Vibe with FIVE podcasts, stating that the midfielder can be a success at Goodison Park.
“We had Donny on the program a while back, and I’ve been able to stay in touch and communicate with him quite a bit, and I spoke with him over this contract as well, over this period of time,” Ferdinand added.
“Of course, Frank Lampard was a big driver, but [Crystal Palace manager] Patrick Vieira was a significant driver as well.”
“However, I believe that being able to stay at home in Manchester, not having to travel, and the fact that his partner is pregnant all played a role.” But, I believe that the most important thing for Donny van de Beek is not only to play games but also to know where he will be played.”
“He knows how to score and play one- and two-touch in progressive, possession-based game,” he continued.
“And Frank Lampard has tried to make his sides play football in a way that someone like Donny van de Beek could be able to prosper in his short time as a manager.” I hope everything works out for them both.”
