Jennifer Grey Has Reflected On Her Past Relationship With Johnny Depp. Last week, the Dirty Dancing star appeared on Drew Barrymore’s talk show to promote her memoir, Out of the Corner, in which she touched on her nine-month romance with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor in the 1980s.
Jennifer revealed the pair started dating in 1988, and got engaged a short time later.
“It was really a sign that there was trouble afoot on my part,” Jennifer said, referencing how quickly she became entangled with Johnny after her breakup from her previous fiancé Matthew Broderick. “I just thought it was God rescuing me from one bad situation and just lovingly plopping me into a Johnny Depp soufflé.”

“You have to understand, Johnny Depp, 1989 Johnny Depp, so beautiful, you’ve never seen a more beautiful … it’s almost inhuman,” she insisted.
